To cancel, students should visit their Housing Self-Service and complete a Housing Cancellation Form for Fall 2016. Spring Break Housing Available

The residence halls close for Spring Break on Saturday, FEBRUARY 27, 2016 at noon and will reopen on Sunday, MARCH 13, 2016 at noon.

Limited Break Housing is available in Brandt Hall, Wehrenberg Hall, and Uptown East for the following reasons:

  • International or INTERLINK Students
  • VU athletes in mid-season with practice and/or games over break
  • Students whose home is 500 or more miles from Valparaiso
  • Students participating in a credit-bearing activity such as student teaching, internship, or co-op
  • Students participating in a VU sponsored service trip

Students ARE NOT automatically eligible for break housing if they hold an on or off campus job that is not directly associated with a credit-bearing academic program.

If you do not meet any of the above criteria for Break Housing, you may submit a request based on an "Other" type of reason. PLEASE NOTE that if you are approved for Break Housing for non-University related reason(s), you will be charged a $25 per night fee for utilizing University Break Housing.

Break Housing applications are available on your Housing Self-Service.  To access your Self-Service page log onto DataVU then select "Housing Self Service."  Once on your Self-Service page, select the "Applications" tab and then select the "Spring Break Housing Application."

If you are not a current resident of Brandt, Wehrenberg, or Uptown East Apartments you are required to obtain permission from a resident of Brandt, Wehrenberg, or Uptown East Apartments to occupy his/her room during the vacation period.  YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO USE THEIR KEY. You will not be given a key to their room by Res Life.

The Office of Residential Life must receive applications for Spring Break housing by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12th, 2016.  Additionally, students who do not properly sign up for break housing by the posted deadlines and need accommodations may also have to pay a late application fee ($25) to receive permission to reside on campus during the break period.

If your plans change, including the dates you need break housing, or if you need to cancel your request, please contact our office at or 219-464-5413.
