Programs & Options

The Department of Kinesiology (originally named the Department of Physical Education) is a diverse and interdisciplinary department that offers nationally accredited programs of study designed to promote and apply lifetime health, fitness, and physical activity across the life span. Undergraduate programs in the department include Teacher Education, Sports Management and Exercise Science. The department also offers minors in these areas as well as Health & Safety and Coaching.

Graduates are prepared to assume leadership roles in a variety of occupational settings, including educational, corporate, medical and community.

Our graduate programs in Sports Administration (MSSA) and Juris Doctorate/Sports Administration (JD/MSSA) are some of the fastest growing and more popular programs at Valparaiso University.

A sound education is the hallmark of all our programs......

The Department of Kinesiology has been a part of the College of Arts and Sciences at Valparaiso University since its original charter in 1929. Through the years the department has grown and adapted to the needs of its students and the university as well as the changing job market for graduates in careers related to health sciences, physical education and recreation.

Through the College of Arts & Sciences, our undergraduate majors lead to a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education Degree and our Sports Administration/JD majors lead to a Master of Science in Sports Administration (MSSA) Degree or JD/MSSA  Degree.
