Fall Astronomy Day, Saturday, October 13, 2012
3:00 - 5:00 pm: Hands-on astronomy activities for students in grades 4 - 9. Registration is required (see below)
- Viewing the Sun through a solar telescope (if clear)
- Touring the Fall night sky in the VU planetarium
- Building your own planisphere and learn how to use it! [A planisphere is a map of the night sky that can be adjusted for day of the year and time of night to show you what stars and constellations are above the horizon and where they are located in the sky.]
Due to space limitations registration is only open to the first 50 students.
This event is offered FREE as a service of the Valparaiso University Department of Physics & Astronomy and through funding from the National Science Foundation.
