Dr. Mike Hildreth, Department of Physics, Notre Dame University
I will give an overview of the Large Hadron Collider project currently enjoying itsfirst physics run at CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland. I will discuss the enormousmachine and the particle detectors that are experiencing their first collider data. I willfocus on the prospects for physics discoveries that could redefine our perspective onthe Universe, and I will attempt to convey some of the excitement being felt acrossthe globe as we step into the unknown.
