Most of us do not enjoy being criticized. When we receive it, we often feel threatened, and we may even find the criticism unfair. Even when it is justified, we find it painful to admit the need for change in our lives. And yet university students (and their professors) are in situations where their work is weighed, dissected, and critically evaluated, sometimes on a daily basis. How can we endure, and even profit from, the continual "feedback" we receive without letting it wear us down and discourage us? In this talk I will share some personal stories, ask for input from those in attendance, and suggest strategies for making the most of the criticism we receive.
