A hundred years passed before more than a handful of serious scientists accepted Copernicus’s theory that the Earth rotates as well as orbiting the Sun. Seeing why this development took so long and proved so difficult might surprise us -- and make us more patient with present-day scientists skeptical of evidence that doesn’t fit current theories.
