Dr. Richter Publishes Polymer Nanocapsule Paper

Dr. Andrew Richter recently published a Chemical Communications (ChemComm) paper in collaboration with Dr. Sergey Dergunov and Dr. Eugene Pinkhassik at St. Louis University, and others.

The paper demonstrates how surfactants can be used to make templates for the formation of polymer nanocapsules, hollow spheres that can be used for drug delivery and other applications. In particular, the addition of monomers (the building blocks of polymers) to the surfactants encourages them to self-assemble into a useful template shape for nanocapsule formation. Dr. Richter's contribution was neutron and x-ray scattering studies of the structure of the templates.
