Prof. Andrew Richter was a co-author on a recently published journal article that was featured as the cover article. The journal, Langmuir, is a highly ranked journal in the area of polymers, particles, and surfaces.
The article reports on a new, simple, and inexpensive way to create polymer nanocapsules using widely available chemicals (surfactants) to form vesicle templates. Prof. Richter and his co-workers have been studying these nanocapsules for the past 5 years using a different fabrication method. The new method promises to open up the process to more labs, including, eventually, industrial producers. These polymer nanocapsules can be used in a wide variety of areas, ranging from catalysis to drug delivery and disease diagnosis.
