Research Positions in Atmospheric Science

GENERAL DESCRIPTION & LOCATION:  Funding is available to support two research students for ~8 weeks each this summer on air quality research projects.  One student will work on a project in collaboration with researchers at the University of Maryland (College Park). This project will require field deployment for ~2.5 weeks in July to prepare, calibrate, and launch dual O3/SO2 sondes for validating satellite measurements, and travel to Houston for training before the field deployment period. The other student will work on analysis, validation, and updating of our 500+ ozonesonde profile database, including work on the project websites and reformatting of data for submission to international data archives.

REQUIREMENTS:  Previous lab work, familiarity with standard software packages plus Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat, and IDL are desirable but not required. An ability to program (C, C++, Fortran, Mathmatica, or IDL) is desired.  An interest in atmospheric science would be helpful. Training will be provided. Availability and willingness to travel is essential.
