Biography
Angela Vernon, who came to Valpo’s psychology department in 1998, has expertise in learning and animal behavior. She received graduate training in biopsychology with particular focus in animal learning and memory. She welcomes interested students into her research program (areas of study include forgetting of stimulus attributes, contextual effects on memory, and conditioned taste aversion). Professor Vernon also explores issues relating to autism spectrum disorders. She is currently conducting research that examines language and social-skill development among children with ASD. Her current course offerings are General Psychology, Principles and Applications of Learning, and Behavioral Interventions in Developmental Disabilities. Outside the classroom and lab, Professor Vernon may be found: on the hiking trail with her family, landscaping yet another portion of her yard, or watching British murder mysteries.
