Scholarships and Awards
Each year the department recognizes outstanding students and leaders in the department. Among the awards offered:
THE JODY ESPER ESSAY AWARD ON SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS AND PREVENTION
This award, established in memory of a colleague who devoted her career to the prevention of sexual assault, is given each spring for the writer of an outstanding essay on a related topic.

THE J. MELVIN AND LUCILLE G. NELSON SCHOLARSHIP IN PSYCHOLOGY AND RELIGION
This $1,000 scholarship, established in honor of the parents of Professor Jim Nelson, includes a research assistantship in Professor Nelson’s lab.

RUDOLPH C. WALDSCHMIDT AWARD FOR AN OUTSTANDING STUDENT IN PSYCHOLOGY
This award is given each year to an outstanding senior psychology student for academic excellence and service.
