Resident Assistant Position Overview:
Valparaiso University firmly believes that living in a residence hall provides students with a learning experience that integrates and complements the more formal educational activities of the classroom, laboratory, studio and stage.
The role of the Resident Assistant is to help create and facilitate an environment of student learning in the residence halls, through planned and intentional educational outreach programs, as well as through informal activities. As a campus leader and role model, the Resident Assistant position provides an opportunity to observe and correct undesirable behavior while teaching new skills in problem solving, decision making, and critical thinking; to assist students in taking responsibility for their actions; to orient students to college life and aid in their emotional and academic adjustment; and to help students develop individual social skills.
