Each Spring all junior and senior Social Work majors create individualized portfolios to illustrate their professional development, particularly learning along the 14 program objectives. Although demanding, the process has proven beneficial because students must examine closely what they have learned, and areas in which they want to grow in the future. Students select various documents and other materials that reflect their knowledge, learning, skills, and values for each program objective. Additionally they author a specific statement for each section, addressing past learning and their future goals. An additional benefit has been that the portfolios have proven useful in internship and job interviews.
