Valparaiso University students will have the opportunity to explore
their academic and career options during the first annual Future Quest:
Discover New Directions, on Monday, Jan. 31. Future Quest is designed to be
much like the Majors Fair of past years, but with a much broader scope. “The Majors Fair was limited to representatives from the
College of Arts and Sciences Departments, while the new Future Quest will
involve all of the colleges at Valparaiso University,” explains Nancy Scannell,
assistant dean, College of Arts and Sciences. The event is designed to address student questions such as: College representatives, Career Center counselors and
Academic Success Center representatives will be on hand to discuss majors,
minors, coursework requirements, and career opportunities. “Students can speak with representatives from all over the
University about programs designed for education, personal growth and
exploration,” Scannell said. “Students with declared majors will also benefit
by exploring possible minors, study abroad, civic engagement and the Urban
Studies Program in Chicago.” Students are encouraged to bring any questions they may have
about their college or career path. Information and literature about a diverse range of academic studies and professions will also
be available to students. Future Quest is from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31 in the
Harre Union Ballrooms A and B. The event is free and open to all students. “Simple conversations have changed lives, and Future Quest
will provide opportunities for new ways of thinking,” Scannell says. “Come
discover new directions!” For more information about Future Quest 2011, call
