2014-15 Upcoming ALD Events
Project Neighbors Springtime Work Day:
ALD will be working with Project Neighbors one more time this school year for an outside work day. Project Neighbors has built and renovated many houses over the past 20 years, which are now in dire need of cleaning and fixing up. We will be doing jobs such as painting trim, cleaning up yards, planting bushes, and cleaning gutters, as well as any other tasks as needed. People will be broken up into teams and split up between seven work sites, all within walking distance from Neighbors Place. We will meet at 7:45 AM outside by the cafe on Saturday, May 2nd, and walk together to Neighbors Place. Lunch will be provided at noon. If you are interesting in participating in this event or have any questions please e-mail Amelia Cobb at Amelia.Cobb@valpo.edu.
Every other Monday we will meet in the Christopher Center from 4:00-7:00 PM for a Study Night. Feel free to just stop by whenever you are available and stay as long as you like. This is a fun way to get schoolwork done, socialize with other ALD members, and even get help from others on a subject.
Encouragement Notes and Candy: As finals get closer and work starts to pile up it's always good to get a little encouragement. We will be writing notes of encouragement and attaching them to bags of skittles. Then on Reading Day, there will be shifts every other hour where we walk around the library and hand the bags out.
