~ Announcements
- Homecoming is September 24-30
* Theme: Reality TV
* Activities include paint the campus, Pirates of the Caribbean, homecoming court/fashion show, Crusader Search, Roommate Game, parade/bonfire, football game
* Our nominees for the court, which will be voted on at the next meeting
+ King: Matt, Phil, Will, and Pat
+ Queen: Amanda and Allison
- "Racks For Research"
* Gwen's friend is collecting pictures of (CLOTHED!) boobs; for every pair of boobs collected, he has sponsors pledging various amounts of money (as high as $15/pair) to go towards the Avon Breast Cancer research. See Gwen if you would like to donate a picture or if you want more info. She'll inform us of the final total once all breats are collected.

~ VPS
- Penny has dates for Fall TOPE. She passed around a signup sheet for days people CANNOT attend to determine the best date.
- Spring Valley Shelter needs people Saturday
* Drywall, painting, random building/plumbing
- Those that filled out interest survey, she has sheets of info she will pass out to you after the meeting.

~ VPM
- Five people will be initiated as pledges tonight! Hooray!!
- Rush events were successful. We had lots of interest! Hooray again!!
- If you bought stuff for Rush, give your total to Amanda so she can add that into the budget.

- Sheet passed around to create an info sheet to be passed out at the next meeting.

- We are going to plan a Haunted Trail for Halloween as a kind of fundraiser. Be sure to ask you friends to help us out! :)

- Matt met with Lisa (section chair). Section 52 is going to be split into two parts. Proposals are going to be discussed at Nationals.
- Nationals

- We're having issues with members responding to important emails. PLEASE answer your email ASAP.

~Vice President of Service:
- Passed out service survey
- Penny is currently making a list of service opportunities. Once list is complete and all info gathered, she'll inform us
- Upcoming service:
+ Popcorn Fest on September 9th (handing out free water or helping with lil puff run)
+ Spring Valley Shelter (various activities)
+ Pack-a-thon September 15th (packing bags to hand out at the Chicago marathon)
+ Career Center September 16th
- Spring Valley Shelter is giving us an apartment to work on in October!
- We're going to start having a "service buddy" system! This way you don't have to venture out to service opportunities all alone. It's also a way to get to know other members of APO
-Interlude from special guest Erin Woike
+ Youth & Family Services needs volunteers (brochures were passed out).
* Tutoring middle & high schoolers two days a week, 8-9pm, Mondays-Thursdays * Childcare at the location in Portage for children 5 and under, Monday and Tuesday, 6-8pm
* Clothing and other necessities are still needed
* Contact Ann Baas for more information on any of these activities
+ Role player training for The Caring Place takes place on September 9th and 10th (this is not a service op. because it is a paying job, but it is still fulfilling; for details talk to Tady)

~Vice President of Membership
-Rush has been planned and the events have been emailed out to members and potential rushees
+ The informational meeting took place before this business meeting at 7:00. Six people attended, one more came to the business meeting

+ Rush committee needs to plan the scavenger hunt scheduled for Sept. 6. Anybody else interested in helping contact Amanda
- Input on formal (where, when, how much $ you're willing to pay, etc.) and fellowship events would be appreciated. Please email Amanda with your input.

~ Treasurer
-The accounts will be switched over on Thursday, August 31.
- Books are to be audited by Dr. Yohe.

~Secretary
- Please send your contact info to Tady ASAP so she can compile a contact list (name, email, campus address, campus phone, cell phone, AIM screen name)

~Public Relations
- Fliers are going to be made for tables in the cafeterias to advertise the frat
- A digital camera for the fraternity will be purchased once it is budgeted for.

~President
- E-board, please email your available times to Matt ASAP so we can start meetings

~Old Business
- Penny will check into who did service over the summer. If you did any service over the summer, give your hours to Penny.

~New Business
- "Leadership Pointers" yoinked from the bulletin board in the Union passed out to those appropriate (ex: recruitment tips to VPM, and so forth)

~The schedule of Rush activities has been determined.

- Tuesday, August 29, 7:00: Informational meeting. Ice cream to follow, as well as the regular business meeting at 8:00
- Wednesday, August 30, 9:00: Capture The Flag. Meet in the Union Fishtank lounge
- Friday, September 1, 6:00: Mini-golf. Meet at the Union turnaround. If you have a car, please bring it
- Saturday, September 2, 7:00: Movie Night. First floor Alumni lounge. We're still debating whether or not this will be a costume party (eye-patches, pirate hats, etc.)
- Wednesday, September 6, 6:00: Scavenger Hunt. Meet in the fishtank lounge
- Friday, September 8, 5:00: Pref dinner cookout. Cookout at Alumni, meet in the first floor lounge.
- Service Project, time and date TBA (possibly popcorn fest)
- The pledge ceremony will be on Tuesday, September 12th after the business meeting.

~Penny has created a service survey. Those that attended the meeting already filled it out. She will pass out the remainder of them at the business meeting on 8/29.
