You've seen information about who we are and what we do in general, but you haven't yet seen what makes APO so fun. Well, this section is for just that. As they say: the proof is in the putting. In here are little blurbs about fun things we've done, from pledging to being involved as alumni and advisors. APO is about helping people, but also about having fun!
My first semester, my big, Jessann, and I would go to
the Boys and Girls club and tutor together. It was fun getting to know
someone in the fraternity and to help the kids with their homework. It
is a great way to get involved in the community.

My favorite event to do with Alpha Phi Omega is
definitely Camp Tope. Every time we go it's an adventure. In 2006, we
painted a cabin, refurbished picnic tables, and seeded grass, which
doesn't sound like a blast, but when you put paint, brothers, power
tools, and ladders in the same place, you end up with a very fun day.
It's great to get to bond with my brothers and get back to our Scouting
roots by working at a Boy Scout camp.

In the Spring Semester of 2006, I was named Fellowship Chair because I have a lot of good ideas for us to hang out and bond as brothers. I liked planning the formal at a local restaurant and dressing up. But my favorite fellowship event that semester was the Big/Little game night I planned. Although only four people showed up plus another friend (who is currently a pledge), I had the best time just being able to laugh and have fun with a few of my brothers.

I was always involved in service organizations during high school. When I came to Valpo my freshman year, I did not find out about Alpha Phi Omega and had this hole that needed filling. My second year, my room mate at that time took me with her to some rush events and I knew that I had found my second home. It's just such an amazing feeling to know that you are helping to make someone else's life easier. My favorite service event is Tope and my favorite fellowship / leadership events are the conferences for the Alpha Phi Omega chapters. It's really nice knowing you are part of something bigger when you go to those conferences. I love being able to see the difference we can make when we work together!
