Annual
Christmas Party
By Kristen Painting
On Friday December 12th,
students and faculty of the Mechanical Engineering Department joined
together to enjoy the annual Christmas dinner. The evening began at 5:30
when company arrived at the household of Professor William Schoech. While
some worked in the kitchen preparing Professor Palumbos famous pasta,
others discussed plans for the holidays as well as plans for the rest of
the school year over a glass of hot wassail. When dinner was served,
those attending were treated to an excellent spread of pasta, garlic
bread, and salad. The meal
concluded later with ice-cream sundaes for dessert. Following the meal,
everyone enjoyed each others company in a non-school setting. Intense
games of Catch Phrase, Battle of the Sexes, and, of course, Go Fish were
all played. The party drew to a close later in the evening, and everyone
left feeling refreshed and pleasantly full from a home-cooked meal.
Altogether, the evening was a great success with time to relax and
socialize. Fun times were had by all, and students and faculty alike look
forward to gathering again in another year.

The
Presidents Corner
By Julie Fleshman
Another semester is
gone. For those of us who are seniors, we are now in our final semester.
As for the rest of you, enjoy all of the time that you have here, as it
will go by much quicker than you can even realize. At this time, I would
like to thank everyone for his or her participation and help this past
semester. We have enjoyed many activities, such as intramural volleyball,
speakers, design competitions, a trip to the dunes, and RSLS. Special
thanks go out to Prof. Palumbo for his presentation on his solar research,
to Prof. Steffen for his support as chapter advisor, and to all of the
members of the e-board for their hard work this semester. |
We have many more exciting and fun
activities planned for this semester. In February, we will be going to
the Chicago Car Show with SAE, on a ski trip, and a tour of the new
library. February also brings Engineers Week and with it the TED
banquette. Plus, there will be a presentation on a topic in biomechanical
engineering. The regional student conference takes place in March. And
in April, we will be going on a plant tour. Finally, May comes along with
finals and another trip to the dunes. Let me know if you have any other
ideas for things to do.
Good luck with the
semester and thanks again to everyone who has helped out!
