Dancing with the VU Stars

For the past three years, VU Ballroom has hosted Dancing with the VU Stars. This event is structured much like the popular TV show except with VU Ballroom students paired with professors and staff. Ballroom members are responsible for teaching their partners everything they need to know in the weeks preceding the competition. The couples then participate in a five dance elimination event. Just like your favorite reality shows, couples are voted off based on the judges’ ratings as well as audience votes.

Social Trips

Every so often, VU Ballroom arranges trips to ballrooms, clubs or studios so members can practice their skills in a new social setting. Cost for trips is usually less than $10 and transportation is provided by members. Past trips have been to Willowbrook Ballroom and May I Have This Dance in Chicago.

Month Dances

Periodically throughout the semester the club hosts themed dances that include a short lesson and then lots of time to practice all the dances students have learned so far. The entrance fee is $3, which goes back into the club to help divert the cost of lessons. Food is provided.
