The Music Enterprise Student Association (MESA) is an organization for students at Valparaiso University interested in any aspect of the music entertainment industry. Although a large number of MESA members are music business majors, students from all majors are welcome to join. MESA seeks to educate its members in the music business through activities such as guest speakers, field trips, and hands-on experience. Members have attended annual events such as the winter NAMM trade show and the MEIEA conference. MESA also takes trips to nearby Chicago to visit recording studios, tour music establishments such as the Symphony Center, and talk first hand with industry professionals. On top of it all, this group also organizes the annual Battle of the Bands competition at Valparaiso University.
