The Valparaiso University Moot Court Honor Society is the Law School’s premier interscholastic
organization. Society members develop both oral and written
advocacy skills through drafting mock appellate briefs and
conducting oral arguments all over the nation on topics
ranging from constitutional to environmental law. The Society is composed of second and third
year law students. Tryouts for membership are held at the end
of each academic year. The tryout process consists of two
nights in which candidates present oral arguments from their
first-year legal writing class. Tryout criteria consists of
students’ (a) legal writing grade, (b) writing ability as
demonstrated in their appellate brief, and (c) oral advocacy
skills. Students who successfully complete the tryout process
will be invited to join the Society the following term. |
