Welcome to the Northwest Indiana Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association! The AMS is an organization that promotes the development and dissemination of information and education, as well as the advancement of professional applications in the atmospheric, oceanic, and hydrologic sciences. The NWA is a professional organization that promotes excellence in operational meteorology and other related applications.
The Northwest Indiana Chapter was founded at Valparaiso University in 1996, and invites several guest speakers each year. The chapter has organized the Great Lakes Meteorology conference each spring since 2002, and was recognized as an AMS student chapter in 2007.
Membership of the AMS/NWA is open to anyone with a strong interest in meteorology. Meetings are typically held once per month at Valparaiso University. For more information, please contact any one of the chapter officers.

The 8th Annual Great Lakes Meteorology Conference will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Strongbow Inn in Valparaiso from 10 AM to 7 PM, with registration starting at 9 AM. Click here for a list of speakers and poster session participants and their abstracts.
