General meetings are held monthly during the school year in KCH 210 during chapel break and are announced via e-mail. Additionally, the secretary organizes periodic Activities Committee meetings during the year to plan the various activities AMS/NWA sponsors, and the vice-president organizes Conference Committee meetings to plan the Great Lakes Meteorology Conference held every spring. Joint meetings with the Chicago chapter of the AMS are also held every fall, alternating locations each year between Valparaiso University and the Chicago area, offering students the chance to meet and network with other meteorology professionals and students in the area and hear informative talks from speakers. This fall's meeting was held here at Valparaiso University. Tony Lyza, who did research on the climatology of violent tornados in the Chicago county warning area, came and spoke. Tony is currently a junior here at Valparaiso University.
