The VU Crusader Pep band is a completely student-run organization comprised of mostly VU students, and occasionally alumni, faculty, staff, community members, and high school students. There are NO TRYOUTS to be in the band. That's right. If you can play an instrument and you like to have a good time, just show up at any one of our events. Ask anyone wearing a Crusader Band shirt for help, and they'll point you in the right direction.

While members are not required to attend any of our events, there are certainly other advantages to going besides having a good time. Every year, we travel with the men's and women's basketball teams to the Mid-Continent Conference in Tulsa, OK. If either team wins the conference tournament, then we get to travel wherever the NCAA berths take us. These trips provide free hotel rooms, a daily stipend, television appearances, and loads of fun. Of course, there are seating limits at these events, and we cannot take everyone in the band. As a result, we take attendance at our home events (basketball, volleyball, football, and other special events) in order to decide who gets to go on these tours. The more events that you show up for during the year, the better chance that you have at going on tour.

The Crusader Band officially elects a director and an assistant director every spring. There are also have several informal positions that are awarded each year to especially dedicated members.
