Joyce Johnson comes to Ball State University

The Ball State University School of Music is pleased to present guest organist Joyce Finch Johnson in recital on Sunday, April 7 at 4 p.m. in Sursa Performance Hall. A reception will immediately follow the recital in the Mueller lobby.

Dr. Johnson is Professor Emerita of Music and College Organist at  Spelman College, where she has been on faculty since 1953. She has performed with various symphony orchestras, including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Robert Shaw, among others, and has concertized in Bermuda, Haiti, the West Indies and Brazil. Dr. Johnson has received numerous awards including the Bronze Woman of the Year in the Arts, and the Spelman College Presidential Award for Distinguished Service. She is a Steinway Artist and has been recognized in Atlanta as a Lexus Leader in the Arts. Dr. Johnson is a Member Laureate of Sigma Alpha Iota Women’s International Music Fraternity.
