About the Student Bar Association
The Student Bar Association's membership includes every student in the school, full- and part-time. Funded in part by student activity fees, SBA contributes to the educational and recreational programs of the School of Law. The SBA administrative board meets weekly as the representative body for students at VUSL, voting on issues that affect students and taking their concerns to school administration. Student representatives of the SBA also attends faculty meetings. In addition, SBA is the umbrella organization that all of the other student organizations fall beneath, providing them with funding for their annual budgets as well as mediating any disputes between groups. SBA committees are responsible for many activities at Valparaiso, and SBA members help in planning annual events such as the orientation program kickoff picnic, graduation activities, and VUSL's famed annual softball tournament, the Cardozo Cup. Each year the SBA plans the events for Law Week in February, which include an Honors Luncheon, Bar-A-Thon, and the Barrister's Ball.
