Fall 2008: Volleyball, Pledging, Homecoming

Beta Tau’s 2008 Homecoming was a roaring good time. Pictured above is almost the entire Spring ’04 pledge class. We would like to thank all the Alumni who came. Your support was especially welcome this year. We look forward to an even larger turnout next year. With school almost done, Beta Tau is preparing for a very large spring pledge class.

The beginning of this academic year has been one of the most promising thus far. Beta Tau had a rather successful Volleyball tournament in September. Over $150 was raised for Habitat for Humanity. Shortly thereafter, pledging began. Beta Tau picked up four new members. Due to an error in scheduling, the new members were recently initiated two weeks to early! AH! Saying Goodbye to Seniors & End of Year

Beta Tau is sending five brothers off into the real world: Andrew Berwanger, Jon Stange, Matt Arvin, Trevor Kenyon, and Alex Sund. We wish them luck in their future endeavors and look forward to hearing all about it at Homecoming in October. Days before graduation, Trevor proposed to his long-time girlfriend April Kammrath. April will now be know as a Sweetheart of Sigma Pi! Congrats to them both!

As the year wraps, Beta Tau is poised to have an extremely successful 2008-2009 academic year! We are all looking forward to welcoming the new freshman to campus in August.

Spring 2008 Initiation

Beta Tau welcomed ten new members into its brotherhood recently. The actives are excited for the jolt of new blood, and everyone is looking forward to a sunny, fun, and productive Spring at Valpo. The new members seem to be excited, as the thought of prolonging the pledging period was not received well. The brothers were just as excited to initiate them. The new members are: Dustin Bonk, Jeremy Caywood, Michael Korenko, Kevin Krutchen, Kurtis Malone, Kori Miller, Matt Tynski, Mitul Shah, Leonard Tanksley, and Paul Walter. Homecoming 2007 - Come Home to a New Sigma Pi

Beta Tau would like to thank all the Alumni who come out to show their support this Homecoming. Rest assured, Beta Tau will be back in full force next year. The Brothers look forward to displaying their accomplishments, improvements, and successes from this current school year to all the Alumni next Fall. We had a great turnout and look forward to a bigger and better Homecoming next year, October 10-12, and for many years to come. Details will be mailed out next year in early September.

¡Three Amigos! Pledge Sigma Pi

Beta Tau is throughly excited for their new pledge class dubbed the three Amigos this Fall. Beta Tau shared the top rush spot with three other organizations this Fall, all equally recruiting three new members. Mike, Niall, and Wayne were named for their corresponding size and as well for their several disastrous attempts to thwart the bandits that have plague Valpo’s campus recently. They have been doing there part around the house and their surprising sewing skills have come in handy as well. We look forward to initiating them into the Brotherhood soon. 15th Annual Tighty Whitey Tournament

Our annual Tighty Whitey volleyball tournament was this weekend, with the best turnout in recent memory. The brothers came out in the usual fashion and showed all involved a smashing good time. Lots of prospective freshman came down, and we hope this will correlate to a successful rush in the Spring. All proceeds went to Habitat for Humanity. Pictures here.

A New Year, A New Beta Tau

The new Executive Board of Beta Tau is looking forward to a great year as a new and improved chapter. In light of last years events, Beta Tau will be focusing efforts this year on recruitment, brotherhood, intramural sports, and philanthropy events this year. All Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors wanting to be apart of history are encouraged to come down to the house during move-in weekend. We will be playing volleyball, grilling, and socializing all weekend. Also, look for the guys to be on campus helping with freshmen move-in day, as well as “chaperoning” the annual Valparaiso University Dunes Day.

At the end of the year, Beta Tau won the 2007 Greek Life Award for Outstanding Philanthropy & Community Service, further showing that Beta Tau is changing for the better. Next year we hope to have an even stronger recruitment and increase our growing Greek Relations. Look for us to be holding numerous Philanthropy events in the beginning of the year as well as great presence on campus. Lets keep up the good work guys...a NEW Generation of Leaders!

Spring 2007 Initiation

Spring ’07 Rush & Pledging

Beta Tau experienced a rather successful rush season, with the largest turnout in recent history. The Brothers are looking to expand even further in the fall. After all was said and done, on bid day we received 9 pledges, they were hence named “The Nine”, not to be confused with that shitty TV show that aired on ABC for 4 weeks in the fall. Wish them luck as they head on a treacherous journey to the island of Thera. Pictures!!
