- ABOUT SWE
- Founded in 1950, the Society of Women Engineers has been a professional society that considers it’s mission “To stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, to expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and to demonstrate the value of diversity.”
SWE currently has thousands of members in 100 professional sections and 300 student sections. The Valparaiso University Chapter was founded in 1987 and has since received the following awards:
- 2008 Best Regional Collegiate Section Award – 1st Place
- 2008 Best Regional Website Award – 2nd Place
- 2007 Best Regional Collegiate Section Award – 2nd Place
- 2007 National Outstanding Collegiate Section Award for Small Sections – 2nd Place
- 2004 National Outstanding Student Section Award for Small Sections – 2nd Place
