Available free of charge, the Torch is printed every Friday of the academic year with exceptions for finals week. Copies of the Torch are available in every residential hall and most academic buildings. The Torch is also available to the campus community on the intranet website.

The Torch offers students an opportunity to gain journalism experience that supplements learning in the classroom. The Torch is also one primary source by which students learn about events and activities on campus.

The Torch is also one of the few organizations that pays students for all their contributions. Over 100 students have contributed to The Torch in the past year through writing, photography, and graphic design.

The Torch is also comprised of numerous salaried positions that oversee the operation of the paper.
