Philanthropy
is extremely important and essential to each member of Gamma Upsilon's
heart. Our ladies spend countless hours working on each and every
event, which range from major campus fundraisers to volunteering
at local social organizations and festivals.
Our
main philanthropic partner is St. Jude Children's Hospital. Since
1974, Tri Deltas have raised more than $14 million in support
of children's cancer hospitals and research facilities. Recently,
Tri Delta has committed to name the Patient Care Floor in the
new Chili's Care Center at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
This commitment is for $10 million over a period of 10 years!
This floor will include 18 new patient rooms with parent rooms
attached. To read more about it go to Tridelta's
Philanthropy webpage.

Valpo
at Bat is a one-day softball tournament and is by far our biggest
philanthropy on campus. Going into its 7th year, we have managed
to raise money that is donated directly to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Besides other Greek organizations, both independent and campus groups
form teams to battle it out on the field. Last year, we raised over
$6,000 by participating in the Sincerely Yours letter-writing campaign.
Plans for this upcoming fall have not yet been finalized, but we
are looking for teams, hoping to get a radio broadcast, and sponsorships
from businesses!
The
tournament takes place this year on September 29th at Kirchoff Park
in Valparaiso. For more information, e-mail Jessica
Brown or Rachel
Yarger .

Teeter-Totter-a-Thon

"Sometimes
life has its ups and downs..." The Tri Deltas of Gamma Upsilon
teeter and totter for 48 straight hours to raise money for a local
family in need. By asking local businesses, friends, family, other
students and faculty of Valparaiso University for donations, we
are able to assist a family who is down on their luck. Often this
family is swamped with medical bills, and our donation to them helps
defray costs. After staying awake for hours on end, we celebrate
our accomplishment at the end with an ice cream social!
