WELCOME!

The Valparaiso University Storm Intercept Team is devoted to observing severe convective weather as it happens and in the safest manner possible in order to enhance our undergraduate education in meteorology. At the same time, we provide a valuable service to the residents of Northwest Indiana and other communities by using our knowledge of severe weather and our observing skills to report any severe weather occurrences to Skywarn and local authorities in hopes of saving the lives of those persons in the path of severe weather. For more information about us, please take a look at our policies page, which describes in detail how VUSIT operates. If you have any questions or comments, please contact the Director.

See what it is like to chase with VUSIT across the Plains and Midwest by reading the logs of the Convective Field Studies in the Plains that are conducted by Professor Bart Wolf every spring and the student-run Day Chases that occur during the school year when severe weather occurs in the region around Valparaiso. Chase logs for this spring's chases, May 18-28 and June 1-11, are now online!

Tickets are on sale now for this year's Christmas Banquet, which will be held December 5, 2009 at 7 PM at Casa del Roma, $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. The VUSIT Banquet features skits, great food, Christmas carols, and dancing, and it is one of the highlights of the year.
