| Field Study #6A | Hobbs, New Mexico | |
| Hobbs, provided us a great location for two days straight. A cut-off low was spitting out disturbances over the region giving us more than adequate conditions for upslope convection. On the first night, we rode out an outstanding hail storm on three separate occasions and discovered a little something extra on our ride through town the following day. That will remain a "little" secret among the participants of #6a. | ||

| Field Study #5 | Lexington, NE | |
|
For the second year in a row, Nebraska claimed the VUSIT city of the year. On our second night of the first chase, just north of Lexington we encountered 70-80 MPH outflow gusts from a tremendous bow echo. While based in Lexington, we would see a tornado producing cell merger in the Nebraska panhandle on the third day. After staying there Wednesday night, we awoke Thursday morning to a tornado warning for our county and 2.5 inch hail. Honorable Mention: Albert Lea, MN

| Field Study #4 | Kimball, NE | |
| In the heat of the 1997 Convective Field Study, VUSIT happened upon the city of Kimball. Though VUSIT only took residence there one night, the people of the town were very open and friendly. Thanks to Kimball for their hospitality and friendship! | ||

| Field Study #3 | Marysville, KS | |
| During the 1996 Convective Field Study, VUSIT stayed in the town of Marysville, KS three nights in a row. The locals got wind of us being there and we were greeted with open arms. The local paper even did a story on us, and a theater in town gave us some of their Twister merchandise. The people there are very friendly and we thank them for their hospitality! | ||
