National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)

NCATEThe Department of Education at Valparaiso University is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), www.ncate.org. This accreditation covers teacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs. However, the accreditation does not include individual education courses that the institution offers to P-12 educators for professional development, relicensure, or other purposes.

The Education Department at Valparaiso University has achieved National Recognition in these areas under the aegis of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). NCATE is unifying with the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC) to become the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) in 2013:

Department Professional Association
Elementary Education Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI)
English/Language Arts Education National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE )
Foreign Language Education American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL )

Science Education National Science Teachers Association (NSTA)
Social Studies Education National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS)
