Get your feet wet!

At Valpo’s College of Business Administration, you will have plenty of opportunities to “get your feet wet” in the business world. All Valpo CBA students do an internship, putting their classroom learning to the test and getting real world experience alongside professionals. Interested in an international experience? We can help you make it happen. Want an internship in a major metropolitan area? We can help with that, too!

Internships can be...

  • Overseas or at home
  • One semester or over the summer
  • Full or part-time (100 hours is required for each academic credit)
  • Paid or unpaid
  • Usually junior or senior year

Off-campus study can be...

  • International through one of Valpo’s study centers in China, England, or Germany or in other global locations (all international business majors will have this experience)
  • A semester, a year, or over the summer
  • Arranged for non-international studies majors

Internships @ Valpo

Every Valpo CBA graduate gets “real world” experience through his or her internship. Whatever your major or business interest, we can help you get an internship in the United States or in an international setting to help meet your career goals. Here are a few examples of recent internships:

Eddie Hannan, ’03, MBA ’04, management

Internship: K Club, European Open

Where: Dublin, Ireland

The real deal: Eddie spent his summer assisting with the European Open at the K Club, a 5-star golf resort near Dublin. Hannan served as a liaison between staff and managers while the resort accommodated 25,000 people daily during the tournament.

Tobin Nelson, ’03, International Business & Spanish

Internship: Kemper Insurance Companies as a Kemper Scholar

Where: Syracuse, New York, Washington D.C., and Long Grove, Illinois

The real deal: As a prestigious Kemper Scholar, Tobin had three summer internships, doing everything from data analysis presentations to working to reform the class action lawsuit system.

Andrew Ahlschwede, ’04, Marketing

Internship: Thrivent Financial for Lutherans

Where: Frankenmuth, Michigan

The real deal: Andrew spent two summers interning at Thrivent’s regional headquarters, participating in team meetings and working alongside managing partners. His experience led to a position with the company.

Jennifer Malwitz, ’03, International Business & Spanish

Internship: Business News Americas

Where: Valparaiso, Chile

The real deal : Jennifer spent six weeks working at the online news source, translating information from Spanish and Portuguese and writing company descriptions in English.
