The Desk Area Coordinator is responsible for all organization and management of resources at both the Harre Union Welcome desk and Games Area. The manager works closely with the Student Employee Manager to provide all necessary supplies, information, and continued training necessary for Desk Attendants and Building Managers who operate these desks on a daily basis. This person is responsible for maintaining an adequate inventory of goods, ensuring quality customer service, and providing up to date information about campus and Union events. Additionally, the manager needs to have a basic understanding of game room policies and procedures and assist with equipment maintenance as necessary. Lastly, manager may utilize basic event planning and marketing skills to plan monthly programming for the Games Area.
The Manger will serve as a member of the Leadership Team, assisting with large-scale planning for staff hiring, selection, training and continued development. Additionally, this manager must hold regular office hours and meet with the Leadership Team on a regular basis, in addition to working weekly shifts at both desks.

This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of the Harre Union.
Approximately 10-15 hours per week. Minimum of 6 office hours a week plus miscellaneous project time and possible coverage of various staff shifts.
The coordinator must hold and maintain a minimum of a 2.75 cumulative GPA
The coordinator must hold at least a sophomore class standing at Valparaiso University
The coordinator must have a minimum of one academic year (two semesters) of experience working as member of the Harre Union student staff in any position, and must have received strong, positive evaluations by the Assistant Director during his or her time in that position.
Must be in good standing with the University.

Ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as part of a team
with other Union staff
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Willingness to work and learn.
Thorough understanding of the functioning basics behind the operations of the Harre Union, specifically the Welcome Desk, Games Area, and event management and operations.
CPR and First Aid Certified (Training Provided)
The coordinator must have the ability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends
