DRAMA TROUPES

Soul Purpose is a liturgical drama troupe comprised of students and faculty who combine their love of theatre with their Christian calling by spreading the good news of Jesus Christ through the medium of drama. The Soul Purpose plays have been written and developed in workshops by members of the troupe under the direction of Dr. John Steven Paul, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dickmeyer professor in Christian education at Valparaiso University. The plays, based on the Gospel texts from the Revised Common Lectionary, are designed to be performed in the context of Christian liturgy. Soul Purpose is available for performances October 1 through April 1. Contact Dr. John Steven Paul, director, at (219) 464-5092 or via e-mail to John.Paul@valpo.edu.

Theatre Outreach Performances (T.O.P.) is an alliance of students, faculty, Valparaiso University service groups and community organizations who are interested in using theatre arts to address social issues in educational settings. Currently, T.O.P. produces the play "Little Bear," an interactive play for children K-3 on "safe and unsafe kinds of touching." T.O.P. also offers a play on sexual communication and sexual assault for college audiences. Other social issues may be addressed with short interactive theatre scenarios upon request.
