The VU Alumni Association is welcoming four new members to the board of directors.
Tom Ertel ’70, of Wauwatosa, Wis., is the athletics and recreation coordinator at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. Ertel was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon and participated in swimming while a student at VU. He received bachelor’s degrees in both physical education and geography. He also served as a member of the VU Parents Council.
Renee (Jenkins ’78) Reimer, of St. John, Ind., received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and now works with Joe Krnich & Associates in Crown Point, Ind. Reimer was a member of Kappa Tau Zeta while a student at VU. She is active in both the VU Guild and the Valpo Club of Lake County, Ind.
Michael Van Beek ’82, of Edwardsville, Ill., is a principal account manager with Siemens Corp. A member of Phi Sigma Kappa while a student at VU, Van Beek received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Van Beek is active in the Valpo Club of St. Louis and recently chaired the St. Louis celebration of VU’s 150th anniversary.
Susan (Heitmuller ’70) Zimmerman, of Highland, Md., received her bachelor’s degree in social work. While a student at VU, Zimmerman was a member of Alpha Xi Eplison and the women’s field hockey team. In 2001 she and her husband, Larry ’70, were awarded the VUAA Partners in Service Award.
Leaving the board after years of service are Robert Kirtland ’91, Brad Pierce ’99, and Andrea (Hoth ’00) Warp.
