Host of Special Activities Planned for Valpo’s 150th Anniversary
Valparaiso University will celebrate its 150th anniversary (1859-2009) with a variety of special events, beginning this August through May 2009:
- Aug. 31, campus kick-off celebration.
- September through April 2009, 15 regional celebrations across the country. (See Page 26 in the VALPO magazine for more information.)
- Oct. 11, Homecoming concert.
- Oct. 17-18, inauguration of President-elect Mark Heckler as the 18th president of Valpo.
- Fall ’08 and Spring ’09, Christ College Symposium Series.
- Dec. 20, men’s basketball game against the University of North Carolina at the United Center in Chicago.
- Jan. 30-31, 2009, dedication of the new campus union.
- Feb. 7, 2009, College of Nursing celebrates its 40th anniversary at the School of Art Institute in Chicago.
- Feb. 12, 2009, Albert G. Huegli Lecture on church-related higher education.
- February 2009, Hall of Fame Reunion.
- May 2, 2009, sesquicentennial gala at the Field Museum in Chicago.
The university has launched the introductory phase of a 150th anniversary Web site, valpo.edu/150.
