Alumni Invited to Demonstration of SARA Telescope
In 2006, Valparaiso University joined the Southeastern Association for Research in Astronomy, which operates a 36-inch telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory near Tucson, Ariz., one of the premier astronomical observing sites in the United States.
This spring, faculty and students in Valpo’s department of physics and astronomy will demonstrate how the SARA telescope is operated from VU’s campus and how data is collected, as well as discuss the research they are conducting with the telescope.
A demonstration will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. on April 18 in Neils Science Center Room 224.
For more information, contact Todd Hillwig, assistant professor of physics and astronomy, at 219.464.5370 or todd.hillwig@valpo.edu.
