Business Administration/Marketing major Matt Davies('07) knew at a young age that he wanted be involved in the automotive business in some fashion. Attending Valpo's College of Business Administration and participating in a wide variety of campus organizations such as Phi Kappa Psi and SIFE (students in free enterprise) helped Matt develop networking skills that inevitably led him to being hired before graduation from Valpo by Meguiar's International, a surface care product developer for automobiles.

During the summer after his sophomore year at Valpo, Matt operated a car detailing business back home in Massachusetts where he employed several people that introduced him to their acquaintances, who were also in the auto business, and ironically, Valpo alumni. These connections led Matt to the International Detroit Auto Show, where he was able to network with people from the automobile industry, including several employees of Meguiar's International. The following academic year, business professor Frederick Langrehr spoke with Matt about internship placement opportunities, and coincidentally led him to Tom Muldowney, International Director for Meguiar's International, and one of the same men he had met at the Detroit auto show! Muldowney later hired Matt as an intern the summer after his junior year, where he traveled the globe for the company and did such an outstanding job that they offered him a full-time job before he had even completed his senior year.
Matt just completed his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree this spring at Valpo and has already moved to Hong Kong , where he is employed as a marketing and sales specialist for Meguiar's International. True to his Valpo roots, he has already helped another Valpo graduate secure an internship with Meguiar's, through the same type of networking process that enabled him to land his own position!
