Each year the TRC organizes several orientation sessions for new faculty. Prior to the start of the fall semester, new faculty are invited to two orientation sessions. The first is a Instructional Support Orientation which includes information about Library Services, Instructional Services, Faculty Development, Sponsored Research, and Information Technology. The second session is hosted by senior administrators and includes information about Campus Ministries, Enrollment Management, General Education, Honor Council, Faculty Senate, and the Faculty Handbook.
The TRC also hosts two new faculty dinner discussions during the academic year. In the fall, new faculty and their deans are invited to a dinner/discussion to discuss a reading about teaching and learning. In the spring, new faculty meet with a panel of VU's teaching award winners to discuss excellence in teaching.
