About Us

The opening of the Valparaiso University Center for the Arts (VUCA) in 1995 put Valpo's programs in art, music, theatre, and the Brauer Museum of Art together under one roof for the first time in history.

Arts lovers come from campus and the surrounding community to attend plays, concerts, and public presentations in the 275-seat University Theatre and 170-seat Duesenberg Recital Hall.

Highlights for the Brauer Museum of Art include the unprecedented 1997 Old Masters exhibition from the National Museum of Art of Romania, a 2001 exhibition from of Ansel Adams' photographs, a spring 2005 exhibition of arts and artifacts from New Guinea, and a fall 2006 retrospective exhibition of paintings by the pioneer Indiana Dunes painter Frank V. Dudley.

The facility recognizes the interdisciplinary spirit of the arts and provides valuable cultural and educational opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community. The center fosters a spirit of collaboration and energy as the arts departments share a commitment to a comprehensive, coherent and ambitious visual and performing arts program.
