January FOCUS For New Undergraduate Students and Parents/Guardians:
January FOCUS is a one-day session for all new undergraduate domestic and international freshman and transfer students and any family members whom they wish to bring with them. Students spend their time preparing for class registration, learning their way around campus, discovering co-curricular opportunities, and getting to know each other. Family members learn about campus resources.

June FOCUS For First-Year Students and Parents/Guardians:
June FOCUS is 1.5 days long for first-year students and parents/guardians. Students spend their time preparing for class registration, learning their way around campus, discovering co-curricular opportunities, and getting to know each other. Family members learn about campus resources.
All students, including those who intend to commute during the school year, stay overnight in a residence hall between Day 1 and Day 2 with activities occurring late into the night. Day 2 features additional resource information for family members while students handle academic advising and registration with our excellent advising team. The FOCUS experience ends after lunch on Day 2.

June FOCUS For Transfer Students:
Transfer students complete orientation on Day 1 of each June FOCUS session. The morning focuses on resources and tools unique to Valpo that you need to know. Academic advising and course registration occurs in the afternoon, followed by the opportunity to take care of business with campus offices. Transfer students are generally finished with their FOCUS experience by 4 p.m. on Day 1, though you are welcome to continue to participate in FOCUS activities occurring into the evening if you wish.

Fraternity and Sorority recruitment begins January 7 for any new transfer student interested in joining one of Valpo's 16 chapters. Transfer students must have completed at least 12 college/university credits with a 2.5 or higher cumulative grade point average to be eligible. Freshmen may consider recruitment in their second semester at Valpo.
