Professor of Art
Art/Psych Room 8
MFA – University of Chicago (1977)
B.A. – Indiana University (1973)
Professor Corazzo teaches drawing and ceramics at Valparaiso University. She was born in Chicago and moved to northern Indiana when she was quite young. Living in the country has had a strong influence on her work. She primarily makes autobiographical pieces, starting with details from her life and expanding on them in ways that become quite abstract. Some of her recent work has taken a new direction in attempting to allow her unconscious to direct the art work.
Corazzo exhibits widely and is an affiliate of the woman-run gallery ARC in Chicago. She has received awards for her ceramic sculptures, and among her numerous commissions is a ceramic tile map for the Pacific Island exhibit at the Field Museum of Chicago, done with Gus Sisto. She received a grant from the Indiana Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. Her most recent show is ARC Gallery’s 40th Anniversary Exhibit. She is a trustee at the Chesterton Public Library.
