Parcel Arrival Notifications

All parcels are signed for upon arrival at SMS and entered into our internal parcel tracking system.  Students  will receive an email notification in their “Inbox” @Valpo.edu  from Student Mail Services  when a parcel is ready for pick up at the Student Mail Services. Parcel arrival email notifications may also be viewed on your cellular device.

The email notice is sent to the recipient’s Valpo email only in the following format:

You have a package is ready for pick up at Student Mail Services in the Union. SCANABLE VU ID* is required to issue package.

The email will also have:  hours of operations, contact information and the tracking number of the item on the bottom of the email.

*Scanable VU ID –  Id’s with the barcode on the back of the card that will not scan will not be accepted at Student Mail Services a new card will be required.  

Temp Id’s  –  Temp Id’s are not accepted at student mail services.


Harre Union Department Mail

Harre Union departments should provide the following address format for packages:

Student Organization Packages

Package handling provided for Student Organizations with the following proper address format:

Package(s) will be logged into our internal package tracking program and securely stored in our department until the President or Advisor provides a valid Valpo OneCard for pick up.


Flyers & Internal Campus Mail

All inner campus mail to students will need to have a return address so that mail can be returned to the proper department if student(s) no longer live in residential housing.

Campus mail cannot be smaller than 3″ x 5″ or larger than 8 ½” x 5 ½”. Larger sheets must be folded. Bundles of 10 or more must be rubber banded in alphabetical order by last name (A-Z with A on top). If the bundle is too large to go through the mail slots, please place the banded bundle in the bulk mail chute in the hallway under the tv.  If you have a large amount, or odd shaped pieces, please drop them off at the package window Monday – Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Student Mail Services has the right to request proof of permission from a faculty advisor or Student Affairs to distribute any material into residential student mail units.

Departments or organizations sending flyer/inter campus mail to a specific group of students must complete the Report Request (Queries) from the Registrar’s website and allow 4 business days for processing.

Departments or organizations sending flyers/inner campus mail to ALL students, must leave a contact name and extension with Student Mail Services and allow two business days for distribution. Student Mail Services reserves the right to request that all stuffers be no larger than 4″ X 6″.

Departments or organizations sending flyers/inner campus mail to a department outside of the Union will be sent through the campus mail system to the University Mail Center for distribution.
