Types of Permits

The Green Parking Permit is the basic parking plan at Valpo. This permit allows access to Green parking areas only. These parking areas are furthest from the campus core and are intended for long-term parking. Green Parking Permits are available to all students who qualify for parking permits, with the exception of resident freshmen.

The Red Parking Permit is available to Freshmen students living on campus. This permit only allows access to the Parking Ramp. Freshmen are not automatically eligible to receive parking permits. The Freshman Parking Waiver first needs to be completed and approved by the Dean of Students.

The Orange Parking Permit is available to commuter students. This permit allows access to all Commuter (Orange) parking areas.  New for 2019-2020, this permit will no longer be in the form of a sticker and applied to the vehicle.  Instead this permit type will be that of a hang-tag.  This feature will provide commuters with the ability to transfer the permit between multiple vehicles, provided all vehicles are registered and only one vehicle is on campus at a time.

The Yellow Parking Permit is available to all current Faculty and Staff of Valparaiso University. This permit allows access to all Yellow Parking areas.

The Promenade Student Parking Permit is available to student residents of University Promenade East.  This permit allows access to the Promenade permit zone, which is the rear of the building, as well as all Commuter (Orange) parking areas on campus.

*NOTE – Promenade residents are also eligible to purchase Orange or Green Permits if they desire, but will be unable to park in the Promenade permit zone on the premises of University Promenade.  Tickets in the zones at University Promenade are City of Valparaiso tickets, which are subject to the city’s rules and regulations.

Uptown East parking permits are exclusively sold by the Uptown East Apartments.  Please inquire at the Uptown East offices for pricing and additional information.

 

*Note – Uptown East residents  are also eligible to purchase Orange or Green Permits if they desire but will be unable to park in the Uptown East permit zones around the apartment buildings.  Tickets in these zones are City of Valparaiso tickets, which are subject to the City’s rules and regulations found here.
The Summer Parking Permit is available to students living both on and off-campus. This permit allows access to all Resident and Commuter parking areas.
