Katie Sirko

Katie’s first job after college was in retail management. Then she quickly moved into accounting. She worked in the Savings & Loan industry managing accounting departments. As the personal computer became more common in the work environment, she became fascinated with technology and really enjoyed training employees on software. After staying home with young children, she returned to work in technology support for a K-12 school system.  Later, she took the same skills to a position in higher education. She has worked as an IT Help Desk Supervisor, Systems Administrator for Blackboard and Cognos, and End User Training Coordinator. She enjoys learning new systems and helping others understand technology. She has also taught at the college level.

Katie is currently the Project Coordinator for a grant from the Lilly Endowment. The aim of the grant is for students to stay and work in Indiana after they graduate. The activities funded by this grant show Valpo students what a great state Indiana is to work and live in. Katie is a lifelong NW Indiana resident who enjoys nature and camping and hopes to work for the National Parks system in retirement.
