MATHCOUNTS is a national math enrichment, coaching, and competition program that promotes middle-school mathematics achievement in every U.S. state and territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 1999, the department has hosted the Northwest Indiana Regional Competition, attracting more than 60 students from eight&nbsp;middle schools. This event, held each February, involves the entire department. Faculty members serve as event coordinator, head grader, scoring judge, and countdown moderator; more than 30 Valpo students assist in the event as greeters, proctors, graders, and data
