Associate Professor of Physician Assistant Studies


Professor Zaweski joined the faculty in summer 2016. He serves as the assistant dean and the program director for the physician assistant program. Professor Zaweski is certified as a physician assistant through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, and his clinical areas of expertise include emergency medicine and vascular surgery. Prior to coming to Valparaiso University, Professor Zaweski practiced clinically as a physician assistant in emergency medicine and urgent care for 15 years and served for nine years as assistant professor and academic coordinator for Arcadia University’s physician assistant program. He is a member of the Pi Alpha honor society, has held leadership positions in the Physician Assistant Education Association, and has served on the board of directors of the Delaware Academy of Physician Assistants. Professor Zaweski’s educational and research interests include interprofessional education, simulation, international education, asynchronous education, competency-based medical education, and professionalism. He serves as associate editor for the textbook Physician Assistants, A Guide to Clinical Practice. He has published book chapters on physician assistant education and antibiotic references as well as articles for the Journal of Vascular Technology and has presented in local, state, and national conferences.
