Dr. Winkler joined the CONHP faculty in 2014 and teaches in the undergraduate and graduate programs. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Dr. Winkler’s clinical background includes medical-surgical and telemetry nursing. In addition to her faculty position, Dr. Winkler practices as a family nurse practitioner in a university based health center. Dr. Winkler’s Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) evidence-based practice project, The Effects of Education on Cardiovascular Disease Knowledge, was developed as a result of her experiences with the local underserved at-risk populations served in her work at a regionally federally qualified health center. She is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Society of Nurses in Advanced Practice. Dr. Winkler currently serves as the Region 1 director for the Coalition for Advanced Practice Nurses of Indiana and is the Vice President of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, Zeta Epsilon Chapter.
